Artist Statement

I am a largely self-taught artist, and have been crafting and creating art for as long as I can remember, in a variety of mediums. But my main love is for printmaking, in all its formats, and for linoprinting in particular.

Much of the inspiration for my work comes from nature and the seasons, as well as from the beautiful landscapes and stories of the UK. I am particularly drawn to folkloric, pagan and spiritual imagery, and one of my favourite pieces is my Green Man. Hares and foxes also feature heavily in my work!

All my prints are my own original designs, and I hand-print in small editions in my little home studio.

As well as linoprinting, I work with intaglio and monotype printing, with a particular love of cyanotype. Cyanotype printing, or solar printing, is an old photographic process, where paper is prepared with a UV-sensitive solution that turns a gorgeous Prussian Blue when exposed to sunlight. Botanical items such as pressed flowers & leaves are used as a mask to prevent the sun getting to certain areas of the paper, resulting in a beautiful, magical and unique impression of the materials used.

I run beginners' printmaking workshops throughout the year, details of which can be found on my website, and I also offer bespoke group workshops on request.
