Artist Statement

I am a visual artist, formerly specialising in bespoke contemporary textile art.

I spent some time travelling in India and Indonesia and I became deeply interested in mandalas. I learnt that the repetition, patterns, colours and the geometry were all aspects of mandalas which helped to take the spectator into a meditative space. But, the true power, I discovered, was in the process of creating them. The process took me into the meditative realm. This is where the gift is – the connection with the soul.
I create mandalas through drawing, including architecture too. I also create mandalas using a dotting technique with acrylic paint.

I also felt compelled to pass on the practice to others and now run mandala creation workshops through drawing and dot painting in my studio in Whaley Bridge in the Peak District.

All works are hand drawn and hand dot painted and are created using pencil, inks and acrylics.
