Jo Turner

Location: Hayfield   /  Genre: Stained Glass

Artist Statement

Jo Turner, started her career as a research scientist looking at molecules in cells and found a love of all things alchemy via the ceramic route into glass as a way of unleashing creative energy. Having initially worked with traditional leaded pieces, the use of more contemporary methods such as fusing has steered the work recently in the direction of creating bigger and bolder pieces.

This, coupled with an interest in the abstracted world around us, our interaction with it and simplification of life has lead to a series of work using simple replication of patterns and bold colours. The stained glass pieces made are inspired by nature and science mixing the traditional leaded, painted and kiln-fused glass in pieces, complementing the organic forms with geometric patterns.
