Artist Statement

Caroline’s work attempts to convey human emotion through the use of paint and mixed media. Her work is autobiographical, in the sense that it is influenced by her own emotional responses and connections with her surroundings. She uses intuitive layers of paint to create an unspoken narrative between the reality of the everyday and the feelings that are set free or exposed. Sometimes drawing freely or using various tools, unconsciously manipulating paint to express what is in her mind at a particular point in time. She bounces between the freedom of thought and control of whatever is medium is selected, using mainly acrylic, or oil paint. Caroline’s work flows naturally between abstract and semi abstract styles dependent on what has been her primary influence. She often uses light and landscape as catalysts for personal expression.
