Artist Statement

My paintings combine figurative and abstract elements with areas of light and shadow to create drama and atmosphere. Biomorphism as an art movement is a recent discovery and influence. Its concerns with artistic intuition, forms from nature and cellular structures have directly influenced my practice and helped to move my art towards something more fluid and organic with a touch of dreamlike surrealism. Viewers find my art intriguing and unusual. I still use recognizable forms such as rocks and trees, but more as details within the image. My art now sits somewhere between realism and abstraction, and is consequently more interesting to me and to my audience.
