Artist Statement

I'm a mixed media artist based in Hadfield in the Peak District. My creations are intricate, blending layers of painted and printed elements with imagery drawn from mass media and my own local photography. I delve into the minutiae of nature, capturing details like lichen-covered rocks, tree bark, water droplets, and reflections, which I then weave into my compositions. Adding a contemporary twist, I incorporate cutouts from thrifted magazines and books, resulting in vibrant, quirky artworks. Embracing the ephemeral, I introduce found objects like pebbles, leaves, and flowers, arranging them over my printed photographs for a dynamic touch.

I had my first solo exhibition at Hadfield's Craft Barn in 2022. Additionally, my work was showcased for a year at the Great Northern Warehouse in Manchester, thanks to Out Of The Shed arts organisation. In June 2022, my artwork won the official poster design for the 30th anniversary of the Africa Oye Festival in Liverpool, where it was printed and sold during the two-day event. My work has also been selected to exhibit in the Afflecks Palace Micro-Gallery in Manchester from January to April 2024.

Entering my third year at Derbyshire Open Arts, I am excited to showcase my work once again at this much loved event.
