Artist Statement

My jewellery and sculptures are made in silver and gold.
My early years were spent running around the fields in the Clwydian hills above Ruthin, North Wales. Venturing to Canterbury College of Art to study Theatre, Costume and design opened up my love of history, costumes, textiles and jewellery. While working in theatre custume departments my Grandfather gave me £50, I enrolled on an evening class to make my own jewellery !
That was 35 years ago.... ever since I design and make jewellery and sculptures from my workshop in Tideswell, Derbyshire.
Inspired by rocks, nature and anything the countryside offers on our lovely local walks and climbs. My jewellery is primarily made in silver, I reticulate the surface to give an organic finish and then decorate each piece with 9ct rose gold balls and wire. Most pieces are embellished with precious and semi-precious gemstones. Recently I have diversified to produce sculptures and 3D pictures, usually mounted on limestone rocks with fossils which I find locally.
