2013 event 25th, 26th, 27th May 2013

These are the hard working committee members and organising team of Derbyshire Open Arts.  The main roles of each are outlined below but the committee members lend their support at key times in the application process when more hands are needed to get the work done, whether it be for example, administration, distribution or proof reading.  The entire organising team and Committee work on a voluntary basis and give their time freely to keep this wonderful event running each year.  They are mostly artists/craftspeople in their own right, and many are also professionals in their other working (or past!) lives.  If you would like to get involved we would welcome you to join us. Please contact us at info@derbyshireopenarts.co.uk

Derbyshire Open Arts Organising Team

Claudia Bain
Committee Member and Organising Team (Coordinator)

Claudia grew up in Derby and has been down south for 20 years. She completed BA (Hons) Photography Media & Society as a mature student in 2004. Claudia has a background in management retail and customer service but finds that she consistently returns to the arts! While down south, Claudia set up and ran a small gallery – ‘Gallery Du’Bain’; she looks to do the same in Derbyshire, between gardening and her dogs.

Jerry Daniel
Committee Member And Organising Team (Brochure applications and design)

Jerry is responsible for the brochure.  He is a retired teacher and landscape photographer.  He is a member of various art groups, including being a core committee member of Chesterfield Action for Arts Forum.

Olinda Everett
Committee Member and Organising Team (Publicity)

Olinda is a potter based in Ashover, making high fired vessels and clay art books. She joined the team in 2010 and is helping with publicity. She also collaborates with local arts groups in organising exhibitions and workshops throughout the year.

Mark Pereira
Committee Member and Organising Team (Marketing Coordinator)

Mark joined Derbyshire Open Arts after producing the photography for the 2011 event. Mark is a musician and runs his own marketing and design agency.

Derbyshire Open Arts Committee

Natasha Astara
Chairperson

Natasha joined the organising team in 2008. She has worked for two commercial London Galleries, the Royal Society of Sculptors and managed a community gallery in Derbyshire. She spent last year studying Fine Art at Loughborough University to develop her own practice and is currently juggling her new baby and artistic commitments.

Andy Rodgers
Treasurer

Andy, our Treasurer, readily admits to having been a civil engineer for his working life, but is now recovering well. Andy has been a committee member from the organisation’s inception. Andy is currently busy meeting the demand for his Overground Artworks.

Rosie Gilligan
Secretary

Rosie is our Secretary – she is also an artist making prints and artists books.  She is a member of a number of arts groups.  More recently Rosie has turned her creative talents to writing, both journalism and fiction.

Justine Nettleton
Committee Member

Justine joined the team in 2009.  She runs her own local magazine company and has a studio at Harrington Mills, Long Eaton, where she paints the local landscape.

Felicity Jackson
Committee Member

Felicity joined the Committee at the AGM. (This is a hazard of attending AGMs!) Having spent most of her working life in medical research, she eventually crossed over to ‘seriously’ take up watercolour painting.
All her works are inspired by the natural world; her preferred subjects are landscapes & wildlife.

Lesley Alexander
Committee Member

Lesley joined the organising team in late 2010. She has a degree in Embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University and now practises as a textile artist. She also teaches and runs workshops in contemporary embroidery skills

Adrian Holt
Committee Member

Adrian is a ceramics artist based in Glossop. He joined the team in 2011 having exhibited as an artist for the last four Open Arts. Adrian aims to promote the arts in the north of the county and recognises the important role that the Derbyshire Open Arts plays in this.
